The J.B. Savage Company, Cleveland, 1938. A fine first with the first state FAI Flag on the endpapers. Only 50 to 100 copies of this first edition have the FAI Flag on the endpapers which is a first state point. Hemingway furiously demanded their removal as he was against the FAI nihilistic dreams. Few copies exist of the FAI banners in the Spanish Earth as it was never supposed to have them. This first without the FAI flag is worth considerably less so this is the one to collect. New glassine protecting a fine condition, rare Hemingway first edition.
