Very rare, very scarce first edition of Thompson’s first book which is excellent literature. Modern Age Books, New York, 1942. Beautiful front of dust jacket is not price clipped. Dust jacket shows chipping wear and some loss at spine (as shown) but difficult to find in any dust jacket. Thompson switched from literature to noir pulp because it paid better. His talent soared in noir as well but we believe Jim Thompson’s heart and soul lie in this book. The book interior is very clean with no owner’s signatures, bookplates or foxing. His literature as evidenced by this first book is remarkable. The only other copy of this first edition book is priced at $8500.00 on Abebooks.com
