Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman Deathbed Edition 1891 $1200.00.
David McKay Co., Philadelphia 1891. A very good Leaves of Grass deathbed edition so called because it is the final version of his complete Leaves of Grass as he intended it to be interpreted and remembered. It is also referred to as the deathbed edition because it is the edition of Leaves of Grass at Whitman’s bedside when he died. Clean internally with some rubbing to the spine as shown, corners a little bumped and a small bookseller’s label on the front pastedown. No internal ownership signatures or markings other than a couple of light pencil notes. Beautiful facsimile Whitman signature on title page with gorgeous pages and bright gilt on top edge and spine.
