Alfred A. Knopf, 1923, New York. Book very good or better with no owner’s signatures or owner’s plates. The dust jacket is nice and bright yellow and without fading to the spine. The dust jacket is not price clipped and has some chipping to the corners of the dust jacket. This book has the very famous letter as its first chapter that Dostoevsky wrote to his family on the day of his scheduled execution. He was next in line with a group of three to be hung when the death sentence was reduced to years of hard labor. It is very difficult to find Dostoevsky firsts which are appealing to the eye. Most are just cheap boards and very thin paper and extremely expensive. This is a great looking Dostoevsky first to display on your bookshelf in a sharp 100 year plus dust jacket, all original.
