Bradbury & Evans, London, 1850. A very good first edition of this Dickens classic in contemporary boards which have some general wear and the top of the spine tear as shown. The book has the errata slip, the frontispiece and the title page has the 1850 date, the second state point is the word “screwed” on page 132, line 20 corrected from “screamed”. Marbled cloth boards and endpapers. The illustrations by H. K. Browne are heavily foxed at the edges as is usual on the acidic book paper used for the illustrations. The pages with text are not foxed. A major title in any nineteenth century book collection.
